Are we trying to do too much? And Why I took a break from Youtube

What Nobody Tells You About Being Superwoman

Are we trying to do too much?

In today’s super fast-paced world, getting a full night of sleep is discouraged. Some successful entrepreneurs I know barely get 5 hours of sleep a day. Does that make you feel guilty? Personally, I would lose my mind without a solid 7 hours. So don’t feel bad.

Especially around startups and entrepreneurship, we’re all trying to do everything. Do you feel like your to do list is neverending? With the sheer number of platforms out there, how do you know which to be active on?

How do you figure out where to feed the social media monster?

I’m going to let you in a secret.

We want to stay competitive and put ourselves out there. But a certain point, you have to figure out where to focus your efforts in order to get a return on the investment of your time. Take a deeper look into your brand’s social media channels. Discover where you’re getting the most engagement.

After working with my fashion clients this summer — Instagram is really where it’s at. This is where the engagement happens.

For example, Founder Magazine has only been in business for 3 short years. They have close to a million Instagram followers, and it’s not by accident. Most of their marketing happened on there. They were really strategic, posting up to 6 times a day. Founder used creative way to engage their followers. They would post a quote, and encourage users to tag a friend if it resonated with them.

My advice to you:

Create a pros and cons list. Going through a simple exercise can help you figure out where to spend your time. I’ve personally seen more benefit in my business by hyper-focusing on one tasks instead of trying to do everything at once.

Less is more!

I know it’s hard — I’m learning to do this myself. You might have noticed I recently took a break from my YouTube channel and blogging. I was exhausted from work 60+ hours a week.
But now I’m back on regular schedule, and ready to focus.

What have I been working on? I’ve focused the majority of my time on Ecommerce Academy, my latest launch with my biz partner, Pulkit Rastogi. I encourage you to check it out — it’s a networking and learning platform meant specifically for Fashion Entrepreneurs. (And as an early adopter…we promise to shower you with gifts!)

The main lesson? It’s to want it all to happen yesterday. But it’s important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

In retrospect, during Ecommerce Academy’s launch, my partner and I tried to do too much at first. I’m happy to say we’ve scaled back and are still pleased with the results thus far.

Thanks for being patient and sticking around! I’ve missed you all dearly. If there’s a topic you’d like me to cover, add it in the comments below!
